Everyone has a goal, it can be anything and everything that you want as a person or in our Dojo as a student. Las Vegas martial arts had produced some great champions over the years because naturally we are a battle born state. As a student of Ageless Martial Arts it is our best interest to make sure students are capable of defending themselves but also learning the respectable customs of martial arts as they go through their journey as karateka. Becoming a Black Belt (Shodan) is one of the most honoring a accomplishments any person can make and it is also one the most recognizable efforts we see in karate. There are few things I will be going over of why it is important not only to practice physically, and mentally but spiritually as well.
Each generation has it changes and its fads, but one thing stands out alone, which is hard work and dedication in anything, accomplishes great things in history. Though,, of course that is more a bigger scale, in learning karate we try to focus on one self and learning how to channel that energy into becoming a better person. This could mean we use our training to do better in school, our careers and even our personal life. By working hard and smart when needed, one gains the characteristics of not only appreciating what they have accomplish but they treat things and people with the respect and a better outlook in life in general. Ageless Karate Las Vegas in 2016 we try to make our new years resolution better to make ourselves stronger. Kids and Tennagers that do karate have so many distractions and even more types of music of their age to influence how they look at life, even though in my opinion in doesn’t really change the outlook of each generation, it just repeat it self honestly. It is important to stay on the goal which is attaining a Black Belt.
Attaining a Black Belt is always less physical and more mental in our opinion, and though when children are learning martial arts it is important early on to teach them a strong mentality and teaching them not to quit and to keep going no matter how challenging the journey could be. Why is it you ask attaining a black belt is more mental? I’ll give you an example, at Our main Dojo in Las Vegas NV, over the years I have taught I have noticed the ones who want it more and to be successful more end up becoming the ones who becoming better skilled and gain more skill then the person who is talented and doesn’t do anything. I know this because I too was one of those kids wuith no talent, no physical capability and I ended up winning some pretty major tournaments in my career through hard work dedication and desire. You can check out more information about us on www.agelesskarate.com for more information or talk to me in person at my dojo.
Don’t get me wrong, it is also important to have physical capabilities as well. These could include speed, strength, technical and a lot of other variables that could make a good martial artist, and I have trained some of the best trainers and masters in the industry all over the world. One person in general Shihan Tokey Hill who is also the Head coach of the United States Olympic Karate team who has for the past couple years has taught us a lot about how things should be done. Most have staff also arer also decorated coaches for the USA Karate team.
The will to learn is very important spiritually, someone has to want to become great not just do it because thats what everyone else does. This is why our dojo explores in someone types of combat from MMA, Brazalian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing and other avenues of combat are important because we want to be able to have a well rounded Black Belt here at Ageless Martial Arts Las Vegas/ Henderson. These are the important avenues of training and the methodologies of any martial arts journey.
