Happy New Year Everyone!
Since it is the start of a new year, maybe it’s time to try a new activity for your child. Most activities have physical benefits but only Martial Arts can help a child with so many important life topics like self defense, confidences and concentration.
Parenting.com published an article called “Karate Kids: The Benefits of Martial Arts”. This article highlights the many hidden benefits of martial arts. A lot of people think the only thing a child learns is self defense. Respect is integrated before a child even steps on the mat. They take their shoes and socks off and bow to the mat and to their Sensei (teacher) to show respect.
While your child is learning how to punch, they are focusing and listening to their Sensei. Children with ADD/ADHD show a great increase in self control and concentration. Verbal, visual, and kinesthtic forms of learning is applied in martial arts; verbal directions are giving on how to throw a punch, visual learners watch the Sensei demonstrate the movement, and kinesthetic learners perform the actual movement.
