It's no secrete that martial arts help with self defense and burns a lots of energy. But did you know that martial arts can help manage ADHD? A lot of people and programs do not have the tools nor abilities to channel a child's energy in positive and fulfilling ways.  ADDitudemag.com published an article called "Improve Self- Esteem, Focus and Coordination with Karate" that states "Studies show that a complex physical activity, like martial arts, strengthens neural networks in the brain, and enables kids with ADHD to practice self-control. Movement helps them develop coordination while building strength." Harnessing their energy while learning fun karate moves is the perfect combination on developing listening and focusing skills. Watching an instructor perform a movement and then mimicking it helps a child focus. Instructors are sometimes a bit stricter with students and have the ability to discipline their pupils.  Now, students are not getting abused for the wrong movement or a simply mistake. If a student repeatedly acts out in class or isn't listening, an instructor may mention this to the student and explain how their focus and attention is needed for them and their fellow students to succeeded. Instructors (Senseis) want your child to succeed inside or outside the dojo, make sure you talk to them about any concerns you have about your child's performance and learning abilities.
