You Want to Be in Better Shape
Let’s be honest — the gym can be boring. Will you get in better shape if you go? Yes, if you do a bunch of repetitive exercises and plant yourself on a treadmill in front of a TV.
The problem for many people is that they can’t obtain the goal of better physical fitness because the time investment, lack of challenge, and monotonous routine are just too much.
Even in Las Vegas, where plenty of gyms have window views to see the sights and sounds, it generally just encourages patrons to leave and enjoy those sights and sounds directly. Gyms are boring, and there’s not really any way around that.
Martial arts classes for adults focus on building core strength and cardiovascular fitness in a fun, social setting. Why not break out of your dull routine?
What about learning Self Defense so you can always protect yourself and your loved ones?
Ageless Martial Arts: The Search Is Over for “Karate Near Me”
It’s likely you’ve searched the web for “martial arts near me” or “karate for adults near me.” Perhaps you searched specifically for martial arts studios in Las Vegas. The good news is…here we are!
Ageless Martial Arts focuses on teaching Shotokan Karate, but with an approach you likely haven’t seen before. We incorporate concepts and teachings from around the world to teach real-life skills along with proper techniques.
When you come to Ageless Martial Arts, we want you to improve every facet of your life, not just repeat karate moves.
You Want to Defend Yourself and Your Family
You might feel apprehension about your ability to fend off an attacker in your current state. To put it more bluntly, you may feel weak in the face of danger.
Now, karate for adults isn’t a way to learn how to be aggressive and showy, learning to dominate those who are weaker. Instead, karate for adults is meant to cultivate a set of abilities that, should the need arise, can keep an individual and their loved ones from coming to harm.
Ageless Martial Arts exists to give confidence to those who don’t have it. No one likes to live afraid.
You Want Greater Self Esteem
Exercise naturally improves self-image. Energy increases, weight goes down while muscle mass goes up, and stress starts to disappear. Also, learning a new skill and putting effort into it makes new connections in the brain, which improves thinking ability.
It’s possible you might think that adding adults’ martial arts into the mix would clutter an already overwhelming schedule, making you even more tired and down on yourself. The truth is, karate for adults brings out your best qualities, increasing motivation and self-worth.
You’ll suddenly find yourself feeling like you can conquer problems rather than being conquered.
When You Want Less Anxiety
To reduce anxiety, you need an outlet. When we bottle up our anxiety, it starts to manifest itself in irritability and anger. With karate for adults, anxiety and tension have a direction.
You can “take it out” during a productive, friendly sparring session rather than on a friend, a relative, or even a complete stranger. The exercise and structure will benefit your emotions and mental state.
Interested in Karate for Adults? Martial Arts Is the Workout You Want!
Combine the fun and challenge of learning martial arts with the positive effects it will have, and you have the ultimate workout. You will burn calories, and you will build muscle. This growth won’t happen overnight but stick with it, and it will happen. That’s why adults’ martial arts is so great.
The techniques are interesting, the routines will demand your attention, and you won’t have a chance to get bored! Yes, even here in Las Vegas, it’s possible to get bored. You won’t be bored at Ageless Martial Arts, though.
I have been working out on my own for a very long time but never had much of any practical application of my fitness. I wanted to be able to learn how to apply my force with expertise. This want made me find Ageless. From the first time I spoke to Sensei Lorenzo on the phone he answered all of my questions with expertise and even advised to check out other schools if Ageless did not fit me, this showed me he cared more about my goal instead of his bank account. From the first time I stepped on the mat he was nothing but patient and a professional. I have only just started training at this dojo, but Sensei Lorenzo has made me incredibly excited to steep myself in Japanese tradition and learn the art of Karate. If you’re not quite sure about joining or not, give the dojo a call, you’ll see all the proof you need as soon as you talk to Sensei Lorenzo.
Sensei Lorenzo and his staff go all out and work hard to better our boys and the community. Sensei is passionate, kind and goes to great lengths to please everyone and improve the children’s abilities. Not sure if I have ever met someone who appreciates, accepts and receives thoughts from parents and others to better their business. My boys are learning how to defend themselves, work hard and becoming passionate about being great at Shotokan. They are proud of their accomplishments. Thank you, Sensei!
So far we are super happy with Ageless Martial Arts and Sensei Lorenzo. He seems to really care about spreading the benefits of martial arts and takes special care to teach karate to kids in a relatable way. The teaching method is the right balance beteeen discipline and fun. And Sensei does a ridiculous amount of extras for both kids and parents. Nice to see someone ambitiously growing his small business the right way. Highly recommend Ageless Martial Arts
To explain more about the type of karate we teach, Shotokan Karate is a traditional form of karate that is concerned primarily with stopping an opponent quickly.
There are three Ks of Shotokan. These are:
Kihon is the practice of learning the basic techniques. Your stances, kicks, punches, and blocks are isolated and examined to ensure they stick before combining them together.
Kata is where sequences of moves come together to teach students how they mesh in actual use. This training will include specific routines to demonstrate a one-sided “fight.”
Kumite puts together the moves and routines into sparring against opponents.
Don’t worry — we don’t expect you to go up against skilled fighters on your first day! As you progress, you move towards the practical use of your skills. You should enjoy the journey! We also offer Karate Classes for kids as well!
Because we emphasize the building of mind and body at Ageless Martial Arts, we don’t want anyone to get discouraged or shamed. Like anything worth learning, karate takes time and diligence to master. Unlike normal workouts, however, you feel progression and a sense of reward at every step.

Self-Defense Classes in Las Vegas
Getting into martial arts is a great way to channel kids’ energy into something productive and healthy. The earlier children start, the better they’re set up for a lifetime of being active and fit! But martial arts is more than just toning the body; it’s also about developing the mind and teaching useful self-defense skills.
We host self-defense classes for children, teens, and adults because we truly believe in giving people the skills they need to:
- Learn self-control
- Focus on an important task
- Instill self-confidence
- Understand how to work with others
- Develop coordination and control
- Realize one’s full potential
Here in Las Vegas, Ageless Martial Arts is known for its practical and beginner-friendly self-defense classes. We will help you and your kids be the best you can be! Not only will you have fun — but you’ll also learn a valuable life skill!
Whether you’re interested in Shotokan Karate, kickboxing, Krav Maga, or MMA, we’re here to make sure you get the training you want and need to be able to defend yourself and others.
Prepare for Danger
Of course, the number one goal of self-defense classes is teaching people how to defend themselves against danger. The goal isn’t to inflate the student’s ego so they’ll be able to egg on a fight, but rather to be ready in case one is unavoidable.
Yes, self-defense classes are a great place for kids to expel energy, and martial arts are a great way to engage in physical activity. But students will also learn how to restrain that energy, too! At Ageless Martial Arts, we ensure our students can safely get themselves out of dangerous situations.
Another goal of our self-defense classes is to learn coordination and control of the body. This is especially important for young minds and bodies that are still developing.
Students will learn to move with intent so they aren’t unintentionally destructive. These lessons in control will be valuable for more than just self-defense; they’ll follow each student for the rest of their lives in every situation they face. Self-control is useful in school or work, around friends and family, and in every facet of existence.
There are plenty of gyms in Las Vegas with rows of treadmills and TVs to stare at. So if just burning fat and getting rid of some excess energy is the goal, there are many ways to do so, even if they’re kind of boring.
Ageless Martial Arts provides an excellent workout that’s also fun and engaging! Our self-defense classes offer interactivity and problem-solving in a supportive group setting. Not only will bodies get tougher, but minds will, as well. The body can’t exist without the mind! A healthier mind will want to keep a healthy, physically fit body.
Develop New Instincts and Strengthen Old Instincts
Ageless Martial Arts’ self-defense classes sharpen students’ natural instincts and make them consistently effective. Everyone naturally tries to cover their face to dodge a punch, for example. We work to expand our students’ abilities and take advantage of these instincts to make new moves and techniques more natural.
Reflexes will quicken, and awareness of one’s surroundings will increase. It’s not just about learning moves — the skills must be firmly embedded in muscle memory to be effective.
It’s not enough to just punch a pillow when you feel frustrated and anxious. Stress relief is about more than just releasing anger. It’s about channeling emotions into something productive.
Whether it’s school, work, or other pressures, you can work on these stressors in a healthy way in self-defense classes. Exercise releases endorphins, and martial arts give structure. It’s a sure-fire recipe for a mood boost.
Manage Frustration and Expectations
Thanks to the fast pace of life in the 21st century, it can seem like patience is a lost virtue. In self-defense classes, we strike a balance between progress and repetition.
Students must be patient to achieve a higher belt, but the progression is linear and rewarding. Kids especially expect instant gratification. Self-defense classes teach them that metered progress can be just as rewarding while taking them places activities with instant gratification never could.
Become Good Sports
Not everyone wins all the time. Even though self-defense classes are not a competition, sometimes there will be other students who progress faster, are stronger, or seem to understand techniques more easily.
The atmosphere we encourage is that of teamwork. When one succeeds, all succeed. Students will come into each class finding a supportive group that will encourage them through defeat.
Focus Teenage Aggression
As hormones start to take over, a teen’s urge to rebel and withdraw gets stronger. Martial arts and self-defense classes offer teenagers a way to be around peers that exert a positive influence and channel their aggression into a beneficial skill.
These classes will help them improve decision-making and reduce impulsiveness, cut down on bullying (whether they are the victim or the bully), and increase their overall self-esteem.
Another excellent benefit for kids and teens in self-defense classes is learning respect — respect for themselves, for others, for boundaries, and for learning. By learning to act with respect for instructors and fellow students, they begin to understand how respect makes their lives better.
Grow with Every Class
Our self-defense classes aren’t designed to merely fill the gap between soccer and music lessons — they’re intended for lifetime growth! There are no filler classes; every single session will challenge the students and give them something to improve upon and think about.
As you and your kids look to fill up your schedule in Las Vegas, pick a discipline that will truly pay dividends — both now and into the future — and join our self-defense classes at Ageless Martial Arts!
Optional Virtual Classes
Perhaps you don’t live in the Las Vegas area or can’t make classes work with your family schedule. If coming in person isn’t feasible, you can opt to take self-defense classes virtually.
The course still contains the same level of instruction and structure. The downside is that there isn’t as much interaction or opportunity for sparring. The upside is that you can participate in classes from the comfort of your home, and no special equipment is required.
About Our Karate
At Ageless Martial Arts, we teach Shotokan Karate, a traditional form of Japanese martial arts. There are three elements to Shotokan, called the “Three Ks”:
- Kihon: The practice of basic techniques
- Kata: Learning sequences of moves
- Kumite: Using the techniques and sequences in sparring
In our self-defense classes, we make sure that students aren’t pushed beyond their skill level. The learning journey is meant to be compelling, fun, and engaging, not discouraging or damaging.
But just because we specialize in Shotokan Karate does not mean we are limited in our scope. As mentioned, we also teach Krav Maga, Kickboxing, and MMA for those who are interested. Which one is right for you and your kids? We’d love to help you find out!
What to Expect in Your First Class
Your introductory 30-minute class is far from a cursory overview. It’s not just a roll call, tour of the facility, and signing paperwork. Instead, you’ll get a real taste of what to expect. The first class will give you a sense of progression! In just a single class, students will:
- Learn how to break a board
- Learn some useful self-defense techniques
- Get a uniform with pants, jacket, belt, and stripes
You can expect real progress from day one. These exercises will get you and your kids hooked on the process so you can look forward to coming back! This shouldn’t be drudgery or another item to check off a list, but a true highlight of your week!

Martial arts not only build muscle but teach you how to use that muscle. When properly taught, martial arts can give you the tools to not just feel more secure but be more secure.
Yes! Martial arts give you an increased awareness of your body, boost core strength, and improve your balance. Clumsiness is a by-product of not knowing what your body is doing at any given moment, and martial arts addresses this.
